Eyes of Beloved
Every story has a beginning. This is ours…
Mankind has always felt the existence of a higher power driving the forces of the universe, but it has, and probably still is, a very nebulous and arcane concept to us. Those who perceived the intangible couldn’t describe it and those who couldn’t (perceive), emphasized inordinately on rituals and conversions. This often led to fatuous rifts in the name of religion, a fundamental pillar of mankind that’s supposed to act as a binding force. But then, time and again, mankind have been blessed with the presence of God or Agents of God who tried to show us the true and righteous path. As an old man said “Bhogoban tumi juge juge doot pathiyechho bare bare, doyahin sonshare”. I would only consider myself to be extremely blessed and lucky to be living in a time and place that brought me close to Beloved Babun Mama (Beloved Thakur Shree Shree Sunyojyoti) and thus, Shree Shree Baba Thakur (Beloved Thakur Shree Shree Balak Brahmachari Maharaj).
Through His (Baba Thakur) texts, recordings and Mama’s sessions, I was able to grasp some of those arduous concepts. Perhaps it’s wrong to say that I fathom the workings of the forces at play at higher dimensions; but at least, it influenced me deeply enough to plant a seed of thought in my mind that tells me, there is much to learn. The inner voice helps me to keep an open mind and think about the unintelligible power that flows through us every day, and it guides me to keep my faith in the right place. Through Baba Thakur’s texts, I learned that spirituality transcends across all borders of religion and is a much bigger phenomenon. One would require time and patience to imbibe the nuances and beauties of spirituality. I remember Beloved Mama mentioning in one of His emails and I quote “To me spirituality is something which should come naturally and spontaneously similar to the other physical needs. Thakur, to me, is a natural necessity, an obvious phenomenon. Not even like food, which you need only when the occasion of hunger arises. It’s like air, it should be incessant and uninterrupted, otherwise one fails to survive. Spirituality is unconstrained and easy-going, it is never grueling and hard, it should never be. When I met Jogis in the hills I found it difficult to fathom why they have to take so much pain and try so hard! I told them, it’s never so grinding and tough, it can never be. Try to see spiritualism in its true light. It’s the true wisdom which makes you see spiritualism as the most fair and right path to pursue. I firmly believe that it’s never hard to do the right thing.” This thought moved me, and I wonder why even 1% of the 7 billion people on Earth aren’t thinking about it if it’s not that hard. Then I remember Baba Thakur mentioning that we are all born Jogis. We might be enjoying the food we eat and need the air we breathe, but this very food and air are responsible for our soul to part with our physical form eventually. We are compromising something or the other at every second to be involved in something else and are satisfied with it, sometimes even enjoying our sacrifices. It’s a life full of sacrifices and there’s nothing more that we can do other than to keep faith in the correct place.
I believed Baba Thakur’s preaching on how to attain spiritual attainment can be summed up in Beloved Mama’s own words “a little bit of curiosity, some persistence, a little understanding of the spirit of mathematics and a tiny slice of love”. I believe we often forget to account for the last crucial factor for which we fall short in our endeavors to understand the elevated state of consciousness. As a kind man whom I hold very dear said – “When life makes us blind, love keeps us kind”. The spirit of love seals the leaky and inexplicable bucket that only mathematics fails to explain. I think we, being so close to HIM (Beloved Thakur Sunyojyoti, my Beloved Babun Mama) and being blessed enough to be able to communicate with HIM should at least try to live by these principles.
